DES MOINES, IA - Six members of the League of United Latin American Citizens of Iowa, Council 307 have been nominated and selected as precinct caucus chairpersons in Polk County for the 2016 Iowa Caucuses on Feb. 1.
They are:
As precinct caucus chairpersons, these individual's roles will be to oversee their assigned caucus site. They will be in charge of conducting the voting that will take place on caucus night, as well as registering voters and helping registered voters change party affiliation. They also will receive nominations for delegates and conduct delegate elections at the caucus for the individual(s) who will represent the precinct at the county conventions.
LULAC Council 307 is helping lead the statewide Latino Vote Iowa caucus campaign that has reached out to more than 43,000 registered Latino voters to mobilize at least 10,000 Latinos to caucus. Polk County has the highest percentage of Latino residents in the state with 21 percent of the population, according to the State Data Center of Iowa.
